The Not-So-Flashy Side of LinkedIn Marketing

Every week I see it. Entrepreneurs, business owners, practitioners, consultants, and service providers posting on LinkedIn with energy and effort, yet still invisible when it comes to real results. Their audience has a sense of what they do, but not enough to remember their name when an opportunity comes up.

It’s not because they lack skill. It’s because they’re focusing on the sexy side of marketing. The loudest posts. The trendiest hooks. The quick wins. They jump from one idea to the next, chasing what might bring faster sales. But this kind of marketing leaves their message messy, forgettable, and without direction.

I get it. Entrepreneurship demands flexibility. When sales slow, panic hits. The instinct is to pivot again. But constant shifts confuse your audience. If you’ve been promoting Service A for weeks and then suddenly show up as an expert in Service L, the trust you built disappears.

Sometimes “pivoting” feels safer than silence. You repost, react, comment because it feels productive. But that surface-level activity often replaces the deeper, strategic work that builds credibility.

And that’s the real reason many are overlooked. Too many offers. No clarity. No focus. Just noise.

When I work with my clients, we tackle the less glamorous parts of LinkedIn marketing. Or to some... The scary side. It's the strategy that actually generates traction and recognition over time.

A) Identify what’s not working

What are your current frustrations? And if you could wave a magic wand, what results would you want from LinkedIn? Success doesn't come from doing the same thing. This helps stop habits that hold your business back.

B) Clarify your goals

Choose the 2–3 business priorities that move you toward revenue growth, expand your reach, and attract people who matter most.

C) Stay consistent with purpose

Share content that aligns with your goals. It takes courage to avoid shiny distractions and not veer off the beaten path. Steady effort is what gets your name mentioned in rooms you’re not in and ranked higher in Google searches long after you log off. That may feel really unsexy.

Because that’s where the wins happen. Momentum that compounds. Clients who already trust you before they reach out.

If you’re ready to focus on strategy that converts, join me inside The Content LAB™ Group Coaching or at the “Create New Clients with LinkedIn” half day workshop on November 19 in North York, Toronto. You’ll leave with a content plan that brings traction on LinkedIn and beyond. $77 when you use promo code EARLYBIRD.

The year’s end is near and attention is short. The steady, focused work you do now is what sets up your next season of growth.
