This Might Be Why LinkedIn Isn’t Working

As I connect with more and more people here, I can see why LinkedIn remains a mystery to so many entrepreneurs. It’s not the most intuitive platform. Updates aren’t announced widely. And if you’re not paying close attention, you might miss the subtle, but powerful changes that can impact your visibility and sales possibilities.

Still, I truly believe it’s one of the best platforms for building trust, nurturing relationships, and converting ideal clients, especially if you treat it as more than a content dump.

Let’s start here: Are you treating LinkedIn like a networking platform?

Posting and “liking” is only part of the experience. I see a lot of content that leaves me unsure of what someone actually offers or how I can take action to connect with them. It’s kind of like being at a networking event, tapping someone on the shoulder, handing over your business card, and walking away.

We wouldn’t do that in real life. There would be conversation. We'd share a few laughs. Feel the energy. Then maybe exchange contact info and follow up.

What I’ve been doing lately? Sending a note afterwards. Letting people know I appreciated the conversation. Asking, “What’s the best way to learn more about your work?”

This is how we build connections that matter and it applies to your strategy online too.

If your content plan still relies on “just post more”, that’s a full-time job you didn’t ask for. And let’s be real: you didn’t start your business to be an unpaid LinkedIn influencer.

So what else can we do?

Check your analytics beyond follower count and likes

Are you attracting the right people? What are their titles? Industries? Where are they located? When was the last time you looked at your LinkedIn analytics—and actually made a decision based on what you found? One of my clients added a new revenue stream after noticing a new audience segment was consistently viewing her content. She developed a mini-course just for them and it’s already converting.

Experiment with LinkedIn Lives

Not only can you repurpose these videos for other platforms, you can schedule and invite ideal connections directly. I tend to invite those who the Live would be a great fit for. It’s one of the most overlooked features for warm visibility.

Use Newsletters strategically

Most entrepreneurs don’t know that you can optimize these with SEO in the backend to help them show up in Google search. Visibility and discoverability? Yes, please.

I love this platform, but I also understand why it feels confusing at times. The updates are quiet. The tools are there, but only if you know where to find them.

If it’s been a while, or you haven’t known what to look for, reach out. I help entrepreneurs move past the “just post more” strategy.

If that’s been your default, let’s change that and build a presence that attracts leads, referrals, and opportunities on repeat.
