I love sharing tips on how best to show up on social media, however, I think it’s important to share my knowledge about what you should not be doing as well.
I could come up with quite a lengthy list of things to avoid, but I’ll keep it short and sweet so here are my top three things you should not be doing on your social media platforms. 1. Don't Ignore Comments & DMs Social media isn’t a one-way street, it’s all about engagement. If your audience has taken the time to leave a comment or ask a question- you’ve got to take the time to reply. 2. Don’t Ignore Content That Performs Well While you don’t want to repeat yourself, it is important to take notice of content that elicits strong engagement from your audience. Try to find the balance between sharing what you need to share and giving your audience what they want. 3. Avoid Posting Multiple Times a Day On The Same Platform I tend to agree with the commonly held opinion of posting no more than once a day, however, others feel that twice a day should be the absolute max, especially for platforms like Facebook and Instagram. In fact, according to Hootsuite, some studies suggest that posting more than twice a day can cause a drop in engagement so don’t go overboard with your posting frequency.
