What is the name of your business and what inspired you? Stepping Stones Wellness Inc. I had struggled with my health for a long time. I met a man who helped me transform from a fat, unhappy, unhealthy middle aged woman to a vibrant, energetic, charismatic woman who feels 20 years younger than her chronological age. I struggled with hormonal imbalance and a resulting lack of sex drive. The difference in my life has been unreal. I want to help others realize that kind of passion and energy. I also want to take away the “taboo” of talking about sex. I want to help both men and women open up and talk about the challenges they experience, especially with respect to low libido. Tell us about your business and where are you located? I’m a holistic nutritionist with a focus on sex and hormones. I help men and women boost their libido and improve their sex lives by balancing their hormones through the right nutrition for them. I work mostly with people who know that sex is an important part of their relationship with their partner, but did you know that sex has loads of health benefits? I also help people who are simply confused by all the conflicting information about what to eat and what supplements are right for them and who want to feel better. I’m located in Ajax at my home office, I’m reachable by Skype, Facetime and phone and I also do some consulting via email. Behind the scenes: What is a typical day like for you? I don’t have a typical day. If I’m not going out to networking meetings or my part-time job at Health Plus Nutrition Centre in Ajax (I love my customers!), I will typically work out first thing, have breakfast with hubby then after he leaves for work, I sit down with my energizing, hormone balancing hot chocolate and read an empowering or educating book for 30-60 minutes. Then it’s time to journal and review my goals. Once all that is done, I write. I write OFTEN. Whether it’s a blog post for my website, article for a quarterly e-magazine that I’m a regular contributor of or my weekly newsletter. I spend a LOT of my time writing. I am also very active on social media. Who is your target audience? Why would they benefit from your service? Men and women (mostly over 40) who are struggling with hormonal imbalances and a sex life that leaves much to be desired. I speak with so many people who are just too tired to be interested in sex … and yes, that includes men. Low testosterone is HUGE for men and unbalanced sex hormones for women are some of the biggest reasons people lose their sex drive. I help people get balanced and enjoy sex again! Stress is one of THE biggest libido killers out there. Did you know that a satisfying sex life boosts your confidence, charisma and attracts people to you even though they may not know? How do you effectively raise awareness of your business and getting new clients? Social media and networking are probably my two biggest ways of doing so. My weekly videos really help me get recognized … that and the purple hair ;) I’m also fairly active in a number of Facebook groups. How do you stand out from your competitors? I’m not aware of any sex and hormone nutritionists out there. I’m not afraid to talk about sex. We’re all adults and it’s an important, natural part of our lives. I think it’s really important that we live our lives to the fullest. I’ve been there, done that. Had no sex drive to speak of at 36, which lasted about 10 years. I was fat and out of shape, my thyroid was sluggish, blood sugar volatile and cortisol (stress) levels were out of control and sex hormones? Completely out of whack. Once I cleaned up my diet and got back into alignment, my sex drive came back with a vengeance and life took off in wonderful ways. My husband has dealt with low libido issues … mostly stress related. Once his stress levels were under control, his sex drive came back. He’s still in the process of getting checked for low testosterone and heart disease but stress seems to have been his biggest challenge. Stress can kill you … or at least your libido. Do you have certifications, awards and accomplishments that have been attained for your business? Not yet. What are the two toughest challenges that you face as a business owner and how have you over come them?
What advice would you share to entrepreneurs?
What special offers do you have coming up that you would like to share?
There are so many things going on. I've released my first two e-books (one on men's health and one on women's health); future books include a recipe e-book, the importance of a great sex life (March 31st) and a general nutrition and wellness book to be released May 31st. I currently have 2 online programs that can be purchased and followed, just in time for Spring. There is a 10-day whole foods detox program along with a 6-week hormone-balancing, energy producing program called Step into Sexy.
