So you’ve just posted something on Instagram and the comments and the likes are rolling in... ... but something is a little off. You’re hit with a stream of comments from random users that read: “post here” or “send pic to” What... the... heck... is going on? Unfortunately, you’ve been hit by spam bots, but there is a solution to combat them. Follow these steps: 1. Go into your privacy settings. You can access this via your profile page by first tapping on your profile pic. 2. Tap on 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀. From here you’ll be given options that will let you filter out who you receive comments from. 3. To add an extra layer of protection you can also tap on 𝗛𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀 from your privacy menu. This will allow you to filter out offensive words and phrases and even customize your own list of words you no longer wish to see.
4. Lastly, be aware of “spammy” or banned hashtags. The list of these is growing and while Instagram doesn’t put out an official list, a little research before posting can go a long way.
