5 TIPS TO STOP PUTTING OFF YOUR BIG GOALS

Last week I attended my very first networking event. It was hosted by Heart Of Networking. They are a small business community designed for connection, education and opportunity.

Patrice Esper the keynote speaker for the day gave an inspiring speech about how to stop putting off our small business goals. I was moved. Probably because like many, I sometimes create my own roadblocks when it comes to starting a major task in my business. I frantically took notes during Patrice's presentation. I felt that this was a blog post I had to share.

Do you want to start a business? Is it time to launch a product or service? Do you find that now is never the right time? Why?

Here are 5 tips to help you through the struggle of getting started

1. Ask Yourself... What is Preventing You From Doing It Now?
Is it fear of the unknown? There is a risk of doing something new. However; instead of focusing on fears based on emotions, focus on legitimate concerns only. Then create an action plan to address and minimize those legitimate concerns.

2. Ask Yourself... What Pleasure Will You Experience Doing It Now / What Pain Will You Go Through for years to come if You Don't Do It Now?
On paper, create two columns and write down the answers to these questions. If you do it, will you feel accomplished, proud, happy? If you don't, will you feel like you will be ever stuck in a job you don't love?

3. What Commitment Will You Make To Yourself?
And now the goal setting begins. Make a goal, write it down and make sure you include the date of completion. Your goals should be measurable.
Example: I will attend 3 networking events by November 30th.

4. Be Consistent
Bring the right attitude and you will choose the right approach. Spread joy, love more, be positive. Do this repeatedly and you will attain empowerment to do great things.

5. Cultivate Connections
Engage, and get to know people. Start building relationships by keeping in touch with who you meet. Call your new connections, and show support. Let them know that you believe in them and how awesome they are.

Remember. Not only are you in control of your actions, you also have the power to do anything you want. Take the above steps towards establishing your small business and it will be a constant reminder why you got started.

What has been your obstacle for not starting? What are you going to start now?
