NICOLE REID CREATES A HEALTHY SKIN AND HAIR CARE INDULGENCE ORIGINATED FROM HER JAMAICAN HERITAGE1/10/2018 After several trips to Jamaica, Nicole Reid sought out information from her elders and family members, familiar with the old time remedies to heal different ailments of the skin and hair. With added research and development, she launched her skin and hair care line. What is the name of your business and what inspired you to start? My business is called Diva Creations Skin and Hair Care Line. My skin and hair care company originated from my Jamaican heritage. Our tradition inspired product line was inspired from the teaching of my elders and family members from Jamaica. During my quest to find the answers to my WHYS, I have befriended many other elderly individuals from India, different parts of the Caribbean and of course Jamaica. I believe that they come with the wisdom and knowledge of how to successfully deal with particular ailments and what they used to use back in their country of birth. Tell us about your business My product line is a whole body line that incorporates tree bark and or nut butters, herbs, teas, flower, fruit, plant, sea plants infused oils paired with carrier and skin loving essential oils. We get our ingredients from all over the world such as Jamaica, Grenada, Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt and Brazil. Where is your business located? My home based company is located in Vaughan, Ont. Who is your target audience? Why would they benefit from your service? Our specialty cream business targets those from the age of 22 to 70 who have skin and hair concerns such as:
We also carry a line formulated for newborns and toddlers. How do you effectively raise awareness of your business and getting new clients? Yo can often find us at Pop Up Shops around Greater Toronto Area. We also recognize the value of social media. We incorporate it daily by sharing content on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter. We are blessed with positive word of mouth too.. How do you stand out from your competitors? I provide a twist on the technique of my whipped body butters, did extensive R &D on the use of herbs with regards to skin and hair, conducting my own oil extractions from plants and herbs that are used within my product line and finally have provided a need within the community for a healthier version to skin and hair. What are the two toughest challenges that you face as a business owner and how have you over come them? The competition can be tough because there are many shea butter businesses out in the Greater Toronto Area. To overcome it, I stand unique in my practices and try to remain different in the marketplace. My second challenge is having assistants, however I am looking into getting some natural sourced individuals to assist in my shows. And finally labeling, to which I have been into contact with a great labeling source for the new year. What advice would you share to entrepreneurs? I have a lot to share here:
